Old-Fashioned Pumpkin Pie
Ingredients
- 1 can pumpkin (1 pound, 13 ounces)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cloves
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Unbaked pie pastry, in deep 10-inch pan or two 9-inch pans
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Combine pumpkin, sugars, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and beaten eggs. Mix well.
- Combine evaporated milk and cream. Heat to scalding point, then add to the pumpkin mixture. Mix well.
- Pour into unbaked pie shell.
- Bake 1 ¼ hours for a deep 10-inch pie, or about 1 hour for 9-inch pies.
- Pie is done when a knife inserted near the rim comes out clean.
